What is Physie?

BJP Physie is a sport for all ages, 3-73, and incorporates a mixture of ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, aerobic dance and even yoga! Physie increases health, fitness and flexibility by developing good core strength, technique and posture. Physie is both an individual and team sport that is social and fun building friendships for life!

Choreography changes annually and is designed for maximum variety and fun. All the routines are choreographed to a vibrant mix of music that both the young and young at heart will love.

Physie is not just about dancing to music it is about building confidence and empowering women for life in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment!

BJP Physie focuses on developing the self-esteem of its students. By teaching them to have a positive relationship with their bodies, we help students blossom with confidence and self-assurance.

We are also passionate about nurturing students’ total wellbeing, in both mind and body. Physie is an accepting and encouraging team sport, where every member is supported and motivated to be the best they can be.

History of Guildford Greystanes

Guildford Greystanes Physie was established in 1956 by founding teacher Isabel Bugden at 16 years of age, who made the club successful across all of Australia in both teams and individuals.

The club remains to be one of the longest established BJP clubs remaining and has experienced much success in team and individual competitions, maintaining a position in championship level for many years.

Mrs. Bugden remained a long standing teacher at the club for over 57 years until her death in 2013. Many wonderful teachers built on the foundation created by Mrs. Bugden, to ensure Guildford Physie remains in the strong position it does today.
