GG Physie Girls

This week GG physie would like to tell you all about Leanne Walsh. Not only does Leanne compete as an open senior she also teaches the 9 to 12 year olds at the club. This is her eighth year of teaching the juniors and she has experienced great success both on the floor herself and with her students.

GG: What is your favourite thing about Physie?

My favourite thing would be teaching the girls. I get to watch them improve and gain confidence each week and see them get out onto the floor and give it their all every single time! A close second is being able to perform with my friends in teams and being able to catch up with friends from other clubs at competitions as well.

GG: What do you like to do in your spare time?

I’m currently studying primary education at university at the moment and study takes up most of my time, but I enjoy taking time to destress by spending time with my (not so little) puppy Charlie and spending time with my friends whenever possible. Moving my body is another thing I like to do in my spare time, whether it’s by doing a workout or a yoga flow or just stretching to loosen my muscles.

GG: Tell us about your proudest physie moment?

There are many proud moments when I look back at years past, but there are a few that stick with me the most. One was when my 7-8 year teams placed both 2nd and 4th. It was such a proud moment when both you and your students have worked hard and then get rewarded for the wonderful teamwork. Another proud moment of mine is dancing on the Opera House stage, every physie girl's dream!

GG: What are your hot tips for GG Belles wanting to make 2021 their best Physie year yet?

My hot tips include making your goals from the start of the year and making a plan to work towards them. That way you have your goals written down and can always look to them if you begin to feel unmotivated and remember what you are working towards and how far you have come! Also listen to your teachers! They may talk a lot but they definitely know what they are talking about and want the best for every single student!
